Looking out? Or looking in? I like the two sides of this.

I am behind the shadows of the bars! I wait in black and white limbo. Turn off the light and let me come out!

the simplicity of your words was striking, gulnaz. drama is found in the little things, that i am sure of.

Interesting perspective - for a change both ppl concerned are affected - if you wither away, so does the other, by fading into the shadows. Justice ?

timeintotime said...

Yes. Imprisonment. Diferent forms; same outcomes.

I love the image of the cage. They are all around us in life, gilded.

Somehow the 'withering' seems to me a means of escaping from behind the bars and becoming one with the shadows before fading into nothingness as the day slips away.

You have great expression!

Russell- wow! the darkness releases us from the shadows which hauts us all day.

trans- thanks girl!! you are right, so many cosmos, so many dramas, all around us.

Gee- a pyrrhic victory, i'd say.

timeintotime- absolutely, the guard too is imprisoned, just doesnt realise it often.

Anne- and sometimes we take those gilded cages as havens and sometimes havens turn into cages.

Santanu- yes, even in that moment its the freedom you have. thanks!!

Brood Mode- thanks!!

Casablanca- danke schon!

DeeM- glad you liked it girl, happy to see you back!

I don't know Gulnaz, this guy sounds kind of dangerous to me. I think you should keep away from him.

Seriously, caged shadows is a striking image, especially with that photo.

Very nice use of a dual perspective once again. Excellent.

gulnaz said...

yvaine- i suppose so...

nasra- have been wondering about u? keeping up good, have u?

Mridula- thanks, yep i took the pic before my digital camera died, its of a wood sofa=kind-of thing in my house...it sits outside, that is on a lil verandah outside the living room and the floor is of marble, so one hot afternoon, when the shadows were etched along the hot marble like iron brands i took the picture....took it way back in the summers. enough info i guess, ;)
sorry mridu, havent visited your blog recently, actually i feel quite drained out nowadays and my machine too is not workign well so that limits my surfing time...will soon though....i hope you dont mind.

finn- the picture came before. i was fascinated by the sight of the start, dark shadows, the symmtery and took the shot. took it in the summers, had been there in my mind, wrote the lines the other day. i hope you liked it finn..
btw, there is an arab term, which roughly means et tu it goes like this, wxqjfa

Quatros- thanks no.4! :) good you have been here now tell me which is more quatros millions or quatros billions! kidding. thanks!

Paul- i'm not in any relationship, this was not about any guy, thank god! thank you so much for caring, paul! :))) hugs!

such deep words. amazing post!! really made me think!!

Patry Francis said...

I'm glad that the shadows are caged. That means you are standing in the light. But then, I instinctively knew that from reading your posts.

Russell CJ Duffy said...

i like the way you lay out the piece. almost like a bullet point summary.

Strong immages I read this several times, you are the master of saying much with a few words

sorry for going li'l off the subject here, but I recently came to knwo @ Tarannum Khan, and this is the example of how dance bars are breeding grounds for all other illegal activities or crimes. I'm really glad that the govt banned such bars.

Just wanted to bring this to your attention since you had a post on this subject.

See the animal in his cage that you built
Are you sure what side you're on?
Better not look him too closely in the eye
Are you sure what side of the glass you are on?
See the safety of the life you have built
Everything where it belongs
Feel the hollowness inside of your heart
And it's all
Right where it belongs

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?

What if all the world's inside of your head
Just creations of your own?
Your devils and your gods
All the living and the dead
And you're really all alone?
You can live in this illusion
You can choose to believe
You keep looking but you can't find the woods
While you're hiding in the trees

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you used to know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?

small and solid. The shadows are at right angles to the real thing... intentional or accidental??

The pic, the the thought and the title, they all compliment each other so well.

Nice one gul.... I'm a great believer of the '2 sides to everything' saying.. A shadow will fall on one side, only if there's light at the other side... :) true, shadows dont exist in the dark...

I looked at this for some time and felt very calm, not sure why, but anyway, thanks for giving us this.

And, as if by magic, the word verification is 'doomm'

Nothingness! Do we?

Can we ever?

Ask these to yourself!

You will find the answers and your calling!

Perfect Virgo said...

I read the title as KGB.

You mentioned you are not in any relationship G, your jarring piece of poetry reminds you why. Leaving the word "i" on a line by itself implies some positive thoughts of independence.

anumita said...

I love the way you present these little pieces. They just say so much.

The Complimenting Commenter said...

Wow. That's an amazing piece. The words and picture work perfectly. Way to go.

Gulnaz, I love its power. Very intense. Nothingness, shadows, cages... brilliant!

strong, sad, and quite amazing. I can't tell who I emphathize with more here, the bee or you.

gulnaz said...

Lorena- am glad you liked it Lo!! shadows are not always nice.

Patry- i wish i were, maybe i am. :)

CJ- awww!! thanks!! :)

Mitzi- am glad that you do.

Pf- i never ignored you, perhaps you missed my reply. yep its a long curved sofa, made of wood.
i always look forward to your comments. thank yoU! :)

Sue- well you are the poet!!!
you write so beautifully, am so glad you liked it.

Venus- well, the dancers have shifted to other cities. i dunno about tarannum khan but if she was prostituting than i'm not surprised but darling illegal activities happen everywhere. prostitution is taken up by young and educated and working girls, just for money and these are women who have brighter prospects and dont have to sell sex so how can you and me, comfortable people claim to know better about women who do this out of no or little choice. there is a lot govt can do to improve their situation but they dont care. they should if only to handle the aids crisis. all i am saying is let us show some compassion and maturity to these desperate human beings. this could happen to any of us, read recently that kids, orphaned in the recent earthquake in pok are being adopted by brothels and 'madams'.

Anon- GOD! such powerful words!!
am shaken and am afraid to look inside, afraid of ansering your questions, maybe coz i dont have the answers.

Tomas- yes you do, glad you liked it.

Maharajadhiraj- it all came together and it does everday, i just happened to see it that day.

Abhishek- thanks dude.

Eden- thanks girl!

southpaw- thanks and welcome to my space, do paw down again. :)

johnnyboy- :) thank you.

Ruksak- wow, thanks for saying that, i'm really touched by that!
i'm not a writer but every time somebody connect emotionally with my posts, i feel so good!! thanks!
this wv this is spooky :) i hope you visit again.

gautami- what is this! you are the second or third person asking me to ask myself questions and the crazy thing is, i don't think i can.

PV- it was a play on kgb :)
amazed by your perceptiveness. its going to be an arranged thing in my case and i'm afraid of losing my identity of subsuming my self.

anumita- thanks! though i can be garroulous, i try to be succinct.

the complimenting commenter- oh dear me, you have been sent from heaven to please us poor bloggers. :) thanks, please come by again and again!

Jaxe- heyyy thanks!!! :)))

Pecos Blue- yeah it does have latent aggression. thanks.

Pinci- good 2 c u back. thanks, sometimes it fits.

adrian- thanks! we change into each other.
