sometime late in the night. memories sneak their way to my bed. intruders. they seem to be from some foreign country...from a far, far away time. as far away as the images flickering on the screen beaming down via satellites...just as close. its sedition. stop, i tell my mind, don't be seduced by them. splinters of dreams...they will leave you bloody and bruised. they are stories which are incomplete, slightly off...words with vowels missing. discontent is strewn, artless and mute like the candy wrappers...i don't know which one enclosed a strawberry and which one wrapped a green apple within its sheer confines. its late now and i'm lining up coffee mugs in a circle, one more and it will be a quartet of cellists. a crowd of memories jostle with one another and there is a commotion for more space.
outside, the sky is yet to lighten. a deep, inviting silence... a promise of peace.

Memories can cause many a sleepless night until we learn to let go of them. I can totally relate to your words Gulnaz. Fortunately the older I get the easier it is to let go - experience is a great teacher :)
Memories kill at times with their clamour.
Incomplete stories make good art, if story telling is an art.But they steal the teller's sleep more than the listener, perhaps..I can fully relate...
But we always have the outer world to lean on..let the peace prevail!
Nice presentation, Gulnaz.
thanks!
janice - sometimes i think one doesnt even want to let go... and yea you are right, with time one develops a better perspective...your wisdom i can see in your words at your blog. thanks :)
devika - thanks! yes there is always peace and joy to be found, its just that sometmes we get stuck in our own misery...

So artful, dear Gulnaz. Dreams do have a way of leaving us incomplete. We are still yearning, still mourning for something lost to us. It is the investigation of this that is most fascinating to me.
The little will be 3 soon. She is love itself:)

not poetic, but the socio-political self of me...
just thought i'll invite you...
Don't comment, if you aren't interested :-)
You write beautifully, in a language that takes the reader straight there. I don't often remember my dreams but when I do I find that when writing them down, the mood, the impressions, that so many other associations arise. I write these down too, it's like a flood released.
isnt there poetry in your prose?? some kind of rhyming.... lovin it!
nice post gulnaz, the seduction of dreams...they always leave on yearning for more, makes one wonder.
you keep being so far but the return is magical ..come always with vowls of poetry
i seldom let memories sneak in bed with me. they merely stain the sheets and they won't leave until i cry blood.
this reads like a dream. very powerful.

Weescape from the dark into the light, but the fragments of our dreams are always there. They skip like stones on the still/turbulent waters of who we are. My interpretation. Whether on the mark, or off, I love how you work the words.
